COLD STORAGE FACILITY

Rush .... Avail...

A separate cold storage facility for perishable import / export cargo has been constructed at a total cost of Rs. 237 lakhs near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Begumpet, Hyderabad, as a joint venture project involving the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export development authority (APEDA) and Airports Authority of India under the management and maintenance of the Andhra Pradesh State Trading Corporation(APSTC) .

The idea for a Cold Storage emerged after analysing the growing demand for export of fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, fresh flowers, live chicks, eggs, liquid helium, radio-active material, lab reagents, enzymes, ELISA kits, vaccines and nobilis vaccines in general and also the vast potential that Hyderabad and Secunderabad have for the world at large in particular. The state-of-the-art cold storage centre has come as a boon to both exporters and importers of perishable and sensitive cargo which require storage under specific cooling conditions.

As regards the facilities extended, separate areas are earmarked to handle and store export and import consignments. The storage facility has a provision to store cargo upto 9 aircraft pallets. There is also X-ray palletisation with a custom-designed hydraulic work-station to prevent damage to fragile cargo.
